Culture The ancient Greeks were a deeply religious people. They worshipped many gods and goddesses they believed to like humans but, appeared to be superhuman with strength and ageless beauty. Mount Olympus, a high mountain in northern Greece was where many of the gods lived. The greeks were polytheistic.
The Iliad and the Odyssey, our earliest surviving examples of Greek literature, record men's interactions with various gods and goddesses whose characters and appearances underwent little change in the centuries that followed.
